Facebook and other web sites have become an obsession for some people. Employees waste time on Facebook and other sites while at work. Students compulsively update Facebook and ignore school work and for many, social networking online has replaced their real-life social activities. Facebook addiction is a real phenomenon among teens and adults.

Discussion

We are not against using Facebook. We believe its the best networking site. But the problem is that Facebook fad is taking control of so many lives among people of all ages. One must remember that Facebook is just another means to enjoy life but not another means to live life.

We all know that Facebook is meant for an age group of 13 years or over of age but many children under the stipulated age are signing up to be members with false information. There is the danger that these children could become victims of dangerous online adult predators, which is one of the biggest risks associated with social networking sites These children wind up adding unknown people to their friend-list leaving themselves open to cyber bullies.

Teenagers are among those most addicted to Facebook. Precious time which could be used for other constructive activities such as reading, playing sports, or learning new life-enhancement skills like meditation, aerobics and yoga is spent on Facebook.

The site not only encourages teenagers to waste valuable time, but also leads them into the pit of peer pressure when they are compelled to participate in all kinds of silly contests such as Whos The Sweetest Person? There are an alarming number of post your photos competition which encourages teens to post photos of themselves online. This is a welcome signal or green light for every pervert and child predator online.

RECOMMENDATION

Use web filter. With it:

With web filter it is easy to block Facebook and other websites that you may not want your children to see. One can manage their office Internet - ensure that it is not overused or used for the wrong activities. Prevent employees from wasting hours of their work day. Increase productivity.

If children are not given limits and rules for how to use the Internet, they are likely to spend too much time online thus their internet use should be limited.

For people who are addicted to face book I will recommend that they should try stop using face book but if it is not possible for them then they should go for the following steps which could help them waste less time on face book.
Ignore requests Stop the constant emails Avoid games and third-party applications Go offline chat Bring a timer with you to the computer If all else fails, quit Facebook.

CONCLUSION

From all the above research we can conclude that facebook is a waste of time, addiction and it has great impact on ones performance. According to our research almost all the people use facebbook, especially employees and students.

We have also concluded from our research that almost every one is aware of the fact that facebook is a waste of time and provides them with nothing useful but still people use facebook daily because it is an addiction which is targeting the minds of a user like drugs. People are unaware of the importance of time. The world is changing day by day, there is improvement every day but our people waste time on these useless social sites such as facebook.

Almost all the facebook user realized from our questionnaire that the time they waste on facebook if utilized on something advantageous such as studies and etc would lead them towards success and also help them manage time effectively which could spare some time for extra acicular activities and mind relaxation. If people stop using facebook it would increase performance and productivity.
