ACOUSTICS AND FIRE PREVENTION MEASURES IN BUILDING CONSTRUCTION

Acoustics

Acoustics
The scientific study of sound, especially of its generation, transmission, and reception.

Materials used for acoustics

Acoustic materials are used to control sound and tune

noise levels. These materials are particularly necessary in places such as recording studios, hotels, business offices, churches and even homes.

Bass traps
High Trap Foam

Fiberglass Insulation
Vinyl Barrier

Significance of acoustics
The purpose of acoustics is to minimize the sound in a

room so that it doesnt travel to another room . Acoustics walls can absorb sound as well as reduce dead spots.(these are areas in a room where sounds reflecting off of different surfaces cancel one another out, resulting in no sound or a reduced sound) Acoustics treatments can be placed on walls or ceilings .they are easy to install and some even just hang from the ceiling.

Fire prevention and measures

causes
improper use of candles.
improper handling of flammable gases in near-to-

potential ignition sources. matches and cigarettes that are improperly disposed of, or left unattended near combustibles. damaged electrical conductors, plug wires or extension cords. short or overloaded circuits. loose electrical connections.

Materials which catch fire

Wood.
Plastic. Paper, cardboard. Fabrics. Flammable fuel. Oily rags. Paints, turpentine, spirit, aerosols for spray paints. Aerosols used for pesticides.

Preventive measures
Combustible material must not be stored any closer than

36 from a heating appliance. The accumulation of combustible materials (such as cardboard boxes, magazines, and paper products) is prohibited. Avoid storage of explosives. All outlets, junction boxes, and electrical panels must have proper covers. To prevent the accumulation of vapors inside of storage areas, a continuous mechanical ventilation system must be in place.
