1. Parachute
Definition: Object made with fabric and
strings that is used to float down safety
through the air.

Example:

Soldiers in planes always wear parachutes.
That parachute did not open.
2. Philosopher
Definition: A person who thinks a lot to try to
solve questions of life.

Example:

To be a philosopher you have to be very
calmed.
A good philosopher is patient and intelligent.

3. Sculptor
Definition: A person who details a rock to
make art.

Example:

I am not good enough to be a sculptor.
A famous sculptor came to the city.
4. Bury
Definition: To dig a hole on earth, put
something in and cover it again.

Example:

My dog likes to bury his toys in the yard.
She buried her fish when it died.
5. Conquer
Definition: To fight for a land or object
and win.

Example:

Hernan Cortez conquered our country
a long time ago.
Cesar conquered a big extension of
land.
6. Stab
Definition: To kill with a knife.

Example:

She stabbed a man for his money.
The police received a stab from the
thief.
7. Tomb
Definition: Object where death people
rest and is buried.

Example:

The tomb was made fifteen years ago.
They traveled 4 hours to buy that tomb.
8. Warrior
Definition: A person trained to fight in a war.

Example:

The warriors celebrated after they won.
The little warrior was very brave during the war.
9. Sketch
Definition: A drawing hand made.

Example:

I made a sketch with only a pencil.
She sold her sketch for 2000 pesos.
10. Army
Definition: A group of soldiers or marines.

Example:

Mexicos army is prepared for floods.
USA army is specialized on air force.
11. Drought
Definition: A period without rain and almost
no water in a determinated place.

Example:

Africa always suffers of drought.
Veracruz almost never has drought.


12. Injury
Definition: When a person gets
seriously hurt and it leaves a wound.

Example:

The driver suffered minor injuries in the
accident.
Her injury was very serious.

13. Rubble
Definition: Pieces or remaining parts of a
construction.

Example:

People were trapped in rubble after the
earthquake.
He filled it with rock instead of the usual rubble.
14. Wage
Definition: Pay that workers receive
on a certain period.

Example:

A lot of people gain just the minimun
wage.
I want to gain my own wage soon.



15. Disease
Definition: The condition that makes you
get sick.

Example:

Cancer is a very dangerous disease.
My mothers disease is very rare.

16. Stumble
Definition: When an object blocks the step of
a person making him/her fall or almost fall.

Example:

I stumble a lot when i walk fast.
She falls everytime she stumbles.


17. Fur
Definition: Skin of an animal used to make
clothes or accesories.

Example:

I am against fur clothes.
Many artists wear fur to look elegant.


18. Hammock
Definition: Sewed bed that seems like a
swing.

Example:

A hammock in the beach is all i want.
The baby doesnt like to sleep in a
hammock.
19. Poison
Definition: Substance that can produce
sickness or injuries.

Example:

The poison of the snakes are very
dangerous.
She drank a tea with poison and almost
died.
20. Polluted
Definition: Something or someone
contaminated, or impure.

Example:

The river is polluted since 1990.
They swim in the lake but it is very polluted.

21. Surgeon
Definition: Doctor who is specialized on doing
surgeries.

Example:

That is the surgeon who attended my mother.
Victor always wanted to be a surgeon.
22. Padded
Definition: Object that is made to be soft.

Example:

This jacket is too padded for me.
I wish the sofa was more padded.
23. Tough
Definition: Something hard, difficult
or strong.

Example:

It was a very tough level.
She will see i am not so tough.
24. Hillside
Definition: The gradient or side of a
mountain.

Example:

They decided to climb on the east hillside.
There was an avalanche on the north hillside.
25. Lung
Definition: Vital organ that make us
breathe.

Example:

We need both lungs to live properly.
The smoke attack our lungs.


26. Mood
Definition: The sense or humor we feel for
different situations.

Example:

She is always in a bad mood when we
have exams.
My mood changes with the weather.
27. Witness
Definition: Person who sees an event and
can confirm or deny the occurred.

Example:

The boy was a witness of the murder.
The judge called a witness of the robbery.
28. Clerk
Definition: Person who work for another
person.

Example:

The clerk of the office is always late.
I want to hire a clerk to help me.
29. Reliable
Definition: Something or someone trusty.

Example:

There are few reliable sources of information.
Your security measures are not reliable.

30. Flipper
Definition: Part of a fish body that helps
them to swim.

Example:

If you swim with dolphins you have to
hold on their flipper.
Imagine the size of a whales flipper.
31. Trend
Definition: Tendency to follow others actions.

Example:

The new trend is to have colored hair.
I dont believe on fashion trends.
32. Argue
Definition: To discuss.

Example:

I never argue with my mother.
He hates to argue with his wife all the time.
33. Endless
Definition: Without an end.

Example:

I feel this movie is endless.
This is an endless road, now i am tired.
34. Neat
Definition: Something clear and pure.

Example:

The artists work is very neat.
This empty room is always neat.
35. String
Definition: Cord used for tying.

Example:

He tyied the boat with a thick string.
The strings of the guitar broke.
36. Crowd
Definition: Large group of people.

Example:

The angry crowd yelled at the singer.
A big crowd waited for the actors in
the rain.
37. Curtain
Definition: Piece of fabric used to block light
form windows or to separate objects or rooms.

Example:

Cats like to climb curtains all the time.
The big red curtain is for the livingroom.
38. Gallop
Definition: The name given to horses
steps.

Example:

Zebras gallop really fast to escape
from lions.
Horses like to gallop even if it is fast or
slow.
39. Striking
Definition: Something showy, remarkable.

Example:

Lady Gagas outfits are very striking.
New York has a lot of striking publicity.
40. Dull
Definition: Something boring.

Example:

This play is a Little bit dull.
Traveling can be frustating, but not dull.
