Almayer's Folly (1895)


The old Scottish Captain Tom Lingard had discovered an
unexplored area on the island of Borneo, along the Pantai river,
where trade with the native Malays for the exploitation of rattan
and rubber. It is associated in business with the Dutch Kaspar
Almayer, married Malay Lingard and adopted daughter with
whom he has had a daughter, Nina. Lingard and Almayer
