Form groups of 6-7

Decide on what organization/company/club you would
like to form.
Work-related organizations are preferred

Submit: name of the organization, main activity of the
organization and names of group members by week 5/6

A Special Business item will be decided by the lecturer,
given on the evaluation day:
20 mins is given for discussion/preparation
20 mins for the informal meeting


SUGGESTED ORGANIZATIONS
Businesses:
Any private company where English is used library,
publishing companies, media companies, research
departments, administrative departments, college,
university, staff welfare club/sports club/ social or
firm, etc.

Others:
NGOs, voluntary organizations, residents
association, charity organizations (WWF, MAKNA,
Mercy Malaysia, Womens Aid organization, PETA,
Pink Triangle, Consumers Association of Penang,
etc.)

MOCK MEETING
1. Your organisation is planning to organise a charity
event to raise fund for poor students at a school.

2. Your company is facing problems of inefficiency of staff
and low staff performance. Brainstorm ideas to
improve performance of workers.

3. Your company receives complaints from customers
regarding poor service from staff. Identify the causes to
the problem and discuss how to overcome this
problem.

4. Your organisation is going to organise a family day for
the members.
Situation 1
Your organisation is going to organise A Night of
Extravaganza for the kindergarten children and their
families.

Another purpose of organising this is also to attract more
parents to enroll their children at your kindergarten.

The event will involve performances from the
kindergarten children and also parents.

Discuss suitable date, time, place and other activities you
are going to include. Do not forget food and drinks and
also the theme.






Your club plans to organise a course for high school
students, mainly the females, during this coming school
holiday.

The main aim of the course is for the participants to
develop self-confidence and boost self-esteem, to
overcome teenage pressure and anxiety and other
aspects that your organisation finds suitable.

Discuss the suitable duration of the course, its content,
guest speakers and facilitators, where and when you are
going to conduct the course.

Do not forget the number of participants and how you are
going to market it.


Your hotel has been receiving complaints from the
guests regarding poor service from the staff and also
poor etiquette of the front-liners.

At the same time, there are also complaints
regarding the poor condition of the room especially
in terms of cleanliness.

Brainstorm ideas to improve these situation.

Your company has been facing a decline in customer
demands and sales lately.

At the same time, you are also facing stiff
competition from other similar organizations.

Discuss strategies that your organisation can take to
improve the situation and attract customers.
Your company plans to participate in PC Fair 2012
which is going to be held in June in Kuala Lumpur.

Discuss your plan. Do not forget promotional
strategies for your company as this business faces
stiff competition from other similar organisations.
