Introduction

Islam is one of the oldest and comprehensive religion in the world.

Morality view: Islam advocates that the sense of good and bad inherent in the

very value of man.

Sources : Al-Quran and Sunnah

Islam is a religion that is revealed by god.

It is one way of life.

What is Islamic Ethical System?

Begins with the identification of the divine purpose of man.

Man was created to serve Allah SWT.

Only man realize ethical values.

Only man may pursue the totality of values because only he has the
mind and vision.

Fundamental world-view of nature of God.

Uniqueness of Islamic Ethical

Tawhid as a Basic for Ethics.

Harmonious comformity to Natural Human Disposition

Universality

Comprehensive Nature.

TAWHID AS A BASIC FOR ETHICS

It is about the unity and the supremacy of God.

Three types of Tawhid.

A) Tawhid Al-Ruboobeeyah (maintaining the unity of Lodrship)
B) Tawhid Al-Asmaa-was-Sifaat ( maintaining the unity of Allahs
names and attributes)
C) Tawhid Al-Ibadaah( maintaining the unity of worship)

God as the one and the only power necessitates God as the source

of ethics.

Contrast with secular ideology which ELEVATE OR DEIFY HUMANS.

HARMONIOUS CONFORMITY TO
NATURAL HUMAN IN DISPOSITION

We are created sinless

Limited free will more into good deeds.

Islam alone recognizes human nature as it is and promotes the

attainable goal for morality as being the representative or
vicegerent of God on earth

Maintenance of a harmonious balance between physical and

spiritual.

No contradiction between its promotion of worship (ibadah) and

the fulfilment of physical needs, for such fulfilment is itself considered
worship when conducted with the sincere intention of pleasing
Allah.

Universality

Islam that has been able to provide a truly universal civilization.

Unity of God and corresponding Unity of Truth and the universal

human nature.

Faruqi stated, "Just as the patterns of God in nature apply to all of

creation, thereby making creation an orderly cosmos, so His will for
man applies to the whole of mankind.

It means that, the message of Islam is open to all.

COMPREHENSIVE NATURE

Moral behavior in Islam is considered part and parcel of worship

and submission to God.

Ibadah govern all aspect of life.

According to Faruqi In Islam, ethics is inseparable from religion and

is entirely built upon it.

Islamic law provide concretes, specific guidance for all situations

based on:
A) Al-Quran
B) As-Sunnah
