Abstract
In this study, the cassava starch will be blended with LDPE to
produce LDPE/starch biodegradable plastics with the addition of
glycerol. The samples will be irradiated with gamma ray in different
dosages. The properties of the samples irradiated will be compared
with the ordinary sample. The study aims to compare and determine
the effect of gamma ray irradiation on starch-based bioplastic and
identify if it will help in the innovation of bioplastic in the industry.

Background of the Study

Plastic is one of the most valued materials today
Bioplastic offer a renewable and sustainable
alternative to oil-based plastic.
Cassava starch has many unique properties.
Gamma irradiation is one kind of ionizing
radiation that initiates chemical reaction.
LDPE has excellent properties.

Novelty of the Study

Objectives of the Study

Determine if the application of gamma ray
irradiation will improve the properties of
the bioplastic produced.

Significance of the Study

The study is conducted with the hope that
application of gamma ray irradiation may
contribute to the innovation of bioplastic in
the industry.
