CONTENTS

Major Causes:
CWP trip
CEP trip
All CT fans tripped
Loss of water supply
to vacuum breaker
loss of GSC level

Action to be taken:
start the stand by
vacuum pump
reduce the load
check the CWP
supply

Vacuum drop in

Main causes:
blockage of filter
mop vanes damage
Leakage in the system
mal function of over
pressure valve

Action to be taken:
start auxiliary oil
pump
start emergency oil
pump
emergency trip of
turbine

Lube oil header pressure

drops

cause:
failure of C.W system
efficiency of cooling
tower is poor.
effect:
Rise in the brg
temperature.
brgs damage and high
vibrations.

Action to be taken:
restore the cw system
open the cw inlet valves
if they are throttled
trip the unit if the
temperature rises
continuously and
uncontrollable
use external cooler.

Lubricating oil
temperature high

main causes:
extraction system
loading fluctuations
sudden drop in steam
temperature
sudden drop in vacuum
Lube oil failure to thrust
bearing
worn out of thrust pads

Actions:
reduce the load.
check boiler
parameters

High axial shift of the turbine

Main cause
bearings failure
blade damage
lack of oil supply to
bearings

Action:
turbine trips in auto

High vibrations of turbine

Cause:
oil leakage fro oil lines
brg oil collected on
laggings and reaches
the ignition point
Effect:
damages the turbine
and the surroundings..

Action:
take care of oil
leakage and try to
arrest.
trip the turbine if
the fire is not under
control.
use extinguishers

Cause
Electrical supply
failure
Lube oil temperature
high
Deaerator level low
Winding temperature
high

BFP trip

Action:
On standby bfp if not
in auto mode
check the make up
line for dearetor if
tripped by low level
Analyse the tripping of
feed pump and put
back in avail
condition.

Cause:
Fault operation of
deaerator,
Condensate water
leakage
DM make up line

Action:
check the make up
line valve
Check whether the
drain valve is
opened accidentally.

Deaerator level low

 Due to electrical
break down
Stand by fails to start
pressure in line drops
Leakage in EH oil
