About the Subculture

A hippie (or hippy) is a member of

a subculture that was started in
the United States during the mid
1960s and spread to other
countries across the world.
Hippie is someone who has a
brighter outlook towards life and
cares about the world. They are
often members of group such as
green peace and antiwar groups
that care about the environment.
They advocate universal love and
peace.

The Hippie Fashion

Hippie style include long hair for
both men and women and often
beard for men.
Both men and women commonly
wear headbands, floppy hats,
flowing scarves and beads with blue
jeans or bell bottoms and tie-dyed Tshirts.
Rebelling against corporate culture
meant making clothes or buying
cheaply at thrift shops.
Flowered clothing and embroidery
were popular and flowers became
an important hippie symbol, hence
