INTRODUCTION
Hydroforming is a specialized type of die
forming that uses a high pressure hydraulic
fluid to press room temperature working
material into a die.

[3]

CLASSIFICATION

[1]

Hydroforming is mainly classified into:

1.Tube Hydroforming

2.Sheet Hydroforming

ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES

ADVANTAGE
Cost reduction by
integration of some
components
Weight reduction by
reducing welded flanges
for joining parts
Improvement of
component strength by
forming in closed sectional
shape and work hardening
Improvement of fatigue
properties by reduction of
welded joint

DISADVANTAGE
Forming condition are
complicated , and require
particular skill
Forming machines are
very large and expensive
Work cycle time is long
and prductivity is low

Spot welding of a product

with other parts or
components is difficult

[4]

HYDROBURRING
Hydro-burring is a
process by which
hydroformed
components can be
joined with another
part
Classification:
Tapping at burring position
after hydro-burring
Nut-inlaying technique into
hydroformed component
