What is English composition ?


the act or process of producing a literary work.
a short essay written as a school exercise.
Why its important ?
Whenever we deliver a massage, thought, idea to other people
in written form, we try to give it a proper shape by composing
its various parts. The effectiveness of our massage depends on
how we compose its parts

1. Processing and planning our ideas(organic whole +

Principles Of Writing
Following are some principles of writing
i.

Making strokes with proper hand movements. This


means to know from where to start a word and where to
end it.

ii. Write letter of appropriate size and proper shapes.


iii. Write letter in words with proper space.
iv. Write words in sentence with proper space.
v. Write correct spelling in words.
vi. Write capital letters correctly.
vii. Write legibly and neatly.

How to introduce writing


Teacher teaches students by

So learner may learn alphabet by imitating
teacher

Types of Composition
Researchers have divided composition into
following types.
1. Guided and controlled Composition
2. Free composition
3. Oral composition
4. Written composition
5. Picture composition

Guided and controlled


Composition
Learners are provided all the structural
and vocabulary items to express their
thoughts and ideas the role of teacher is
only to guide by questions, pictures, clues
etc.
Learner works independently under
guidance of teacher.

Free Composition

Learners express their ideas freely ,


without controlled manner.
This type of composition develops the
ability of learner through insight
Students freely choose their structure and
vocabulary , express their own thoughts
and ideas on given topic.

Oral Composition
Learners express their ideas orally.
This composition may be free or
controlled.
Learners are prohibited to use pen or
pencil.
Useful in primary classes of English
teaching.

Written composition

Learners express ideas and thoughts


in written form.
The written composition may be free
or controlled.

Pictures composition

This composition may be guided or free.


Students observation skill improves.
After proper observation of picture they
arrange their ideas in proper sequence by
using correct vocabulary and sentences
