China is the worlds top textile exporter with 40% of world

textile and clothing exports.
The textile and clothing industry is the largest
manufacturing industry in China with about 24,000
enterprises.
China's textile exports fell for the first time in six years in
2015:
sluggish economies of export destinations
rising labor costs in China
increase in overseas investment
yuan's year-on-year appreciation
Majors export destinations are Europe, U.S. and Japan.

INDUSTRY OVERVIEW

China's fastest growing export market is now the ASEAN

region, which increased by 30.15 percent, making the region
China's third largest apparel export market.

China has started investing in countries like Bangladesh,

Vietnam, India and Cambodia as well as member countries
of Trans-Pacific Partnership (TTP). In 2015, China's imports
oftextile products from Vietnam jumped 18% to$2.5 billion

Attempts at government intervention are not always

successful for example, China' policy on cotton purchasing
to support the local cotton industry led to a stockpile of 11
million tons by late 2013 and a cotton price about RMB
5,700 per ton higher than the international market price.
