Immanu
el Kant

Beauty can be
interpreted as an
exercise of rational
judgment and as an
expression of
personal sentiment
or feeling.

Aesthetic judgment is
between the logically
necessary and the
purely subjective.

An aesthetic
judgment is
disinterestedly free.

Aesthetic judgment is
subjective yet
commands the assent
from others; is not
based on practical
reason but has the
mark of
purposefulness.

Hans-Georg Gadamer

Immanuel Kant has presented a plausible notion of what

aesthetic judgment is. He has clearly and satisfactorily
described how the appreciation of beauty can be the
basis of appreciating art. As he strongly pointed on things
that limits it from being purely subjective, there is the
idea of a reason for demanding a similar delight from
everyone yet our personal preference still remains. He
also used different critiques to explain his claim which are
influentially adapted by other philosophers and even
these days. I therefore concluded, aesthetic judgment is
definitely between the objective and purely subjective.
