3. Maintenance of Distribution Lines:


3.1.1. Objectives:- a) To maintain the lines in the best possible way.
b) To ensure reliable and safe supply of power.
c) To ensure longevity of the lines.
3.2. Patrolling:- The main job of maintenance is regular patrolling. During
patrolling(Inspection) various troubles to be found out.
3.3. Classification of periodic inspection:a) Monthly inspection, b) Yearly, c) Emergency inspection- storm, heavy rainfall
or thunder etc.
During patrolling the group should wear approved uniforms, safety belt,
helmet and should carry scales, cutting pliers, hand axe, binocular, mobile,
notebook, reporting sheet, pencil etc.
3.4. Inspection Schedule:- Make Schedule of patrol to check whole length of
distribution line. Special section of lines should be patrolled where
a) Trees, Bamboo etc, grow quickly, b) Erosion seems to occur, c) House are
crowded, d) River crossing
3.5. Action:-The faults finding out during patrol should be removed as
necessary.
