Educational Campuses

Issues: Centralization
Arguably, the best campuses in Philippines
lies in Manila. Public or private, we have
so-called U-BELT where universities are
clustered. This makes the students on the
other provinces wish to travel in Manila to
have a huge option of courses available,
and the best quality of education.

Issues: Population
Population also affects the state of every
campuses in each provinces. Private
owners wouldnt invest in a secluded
areas because of the marketability. This
made the people in the secluded area to
rely on the public universities/state
universities, in which most cases, state
universities outside Manila, has a poor
quality of education.

Issues: Lack of Facility


In Philippines, almost all public universities/campus
are in needs of resource. We (who are in state-Us)
have experienced a class with 50-60 students.
The lack of basic computer laboratories and it is
ironic, that we are in the generation of computer.
This also affects the poorly-constructed buildings,
such as the inabilty to do repairs on old buildings,
and etc.

Issues: Government Funds


Public universities are in lack of funds. We can see how large the
is the difference between public and private in terms of facility,
quality, and comfortability.
The lack of fund also limits us to build new campus for the public.
According to Dr. Napoleon K. Juanillo, commissioner and head of
the Office of Planning, Research and Knowledge Management
under the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), as of
academic year 2013-2014, there were 1,923 HEIs in the country.
Out of this, 1,699 were privately-owned while the rest (224) were
public or state colleges/universities. The number rose even
further last year, with 1,708 private and 227 public HEIs.

Trends: Modern, and Green Building

De La Salle University Henry Sy, Sr. Hall

The De La Salle University Henry Sy, Sr. Hall


was designed by the renowned architectural
firm Leandro V. Locsin Partners, Architects. It
was blessed in 2012 to commemorate the
Universitys centenary. Consisting of 14 ecofriendly learning spaces and function areas,
the Hall not only reveals DLSUs commitment
to education but also to environmental
responsibility. It features a green roof, solar
panels, a rainwater collection system, and a
water re-use system.

De La Salle College of Saint Benilde School of Design


and Arts Campus

The School of Design and Arts Campus


was designed by Lor Calma Design and
Associates, with Eduardo Calma as the
design principal. The building is a tribute
to creativity and modern teaching
environment. It features a contemporary
design made of glass, steel, and
concrete. The 14-storey academic
complex was opened in May 2007.

TUP Clark (TUP CINDEP)

The Clark Green City, involves the development of a 9,450hectare proposed business hub located inside the Clark
Special Economic Zone. Clark Green City was chosen by TUP
as the site of its new innovative training center, the TUP
CINDEP (Center for Industrial Development and Productivity)
that would specialize in industrial and technology skills
development. In a Memorandum of Agreement that was
formally entered into by TUP and BCDA on January 18, 2016,
BCDA allocated 20 hectares within Clark Green City for the
development of the said TUP training center.

Clark Green City, obviously promotes the development of


green innovations. We expect that the TUP Clark will comply
to it.

Lyceum of the Philippines Cavite

LGU needs for Educational Campuses

Bacoor, Cavite
-Bacoor has 16.3% (600,609) of Cavites population, being the second
populated next to Dasmarias.
-Cavites gateway to Metro Manila. Equivalent to congested traffic.
-Bacoor is currently experiencing a rapid shift from an agriculture-based
economy to a residential/commercial urban center. Nowadays, retail,
manufacturing, banking and service sectors are Bacoor's primary income
earners. Commercial activities are sporadic throughout the city ranging from
wholesale to retail establishments, restaurants and eateries, hardware and
construction supplies and other service-related industries, especially those
located in SM City Bacoor where it serves as the city's main income earner.
The mostly residential area of Molino is also home to SM Center Molino at the
corner of Molino Road and Daang Hari. The entrance area from theCoastal
Roadto Aguinaldo Highway in Talaba and the area surrounding the Zapote
Public Market (now the Bacoor Public Market) are other commercial centers.

Land use developments in Bacoor include a


proposed industrial village in Barangay Niog which
will include light cottage industries with supporting
residential and commercial facilities. A vast tract
of land in Molino area, on the other hand, is
envisioned to host residential, institutional and
commercial facilities. Dubbed as theNew Bacoor,
the land use plan in Molino seeks to utilize the
area not only as a dormitory for individuals who
work in Metro Manila but also for people who have
migrated to Bacoor in search of economic
advancement.

Bacoor has only two primary


universities.
The Molino campus of theUniversity of
Perpetual Help System DALTAand a
campus of theCavite State University.
In which, on personal view, it has poor
quality of education.

Needs

*The New Bacoor opportunity to be
developed.
*Larger pool of offered-course.
