WHAT IS PERSPECTIVE DRAWING?

It is defined as a set of techniques used
to draw a 3-dimensional scene onto a
2-dimensional surface.
Using this technique makes it easier for
things to look realistic

ART HISTORY OF PERSPECTIVE DRAWING

Famous artists centering around sound
perspective...
1. M.C. Escher
2. Brunelleschi
3. Piero della Francesca

FILLIPO BRUNELLESCHI
1st architect to use math perspectives
when designing buildings during the
early Renaissance
Before this, artists guessed where lines
of buildings would go in
drawings/paintings

BEFORE WE LOOK AT EXAMPLES

Important Vocabulary
Horizon line where the sky meets the
ground
Vanishing Point the place where all lines
meet or vanish and is located on the horizon
line
Horizontal line left to right line = parallel to
horizon
Vertical line up and down line =
perpendicular to the horizon line

Orthogonal line lines that create the sides of

an object in 1-point perspective
Diagonal line line with slanted direction
Perpendicular line Lines that intersect or form
right angles (90 degrees)
Intersecting line lines cut or divide by passing
through or across
Parallel line lines on the same plane but never
meet (or intersect) no matter how far they extend

EXAMPLES
1. The Holy Trinity by Masaccio
2. View of an Ideal City by Piero
della Francesca

EXAMPLES FOR OUR ASSIGNMENT

HOW DO WE ACHIEVE THIS?

Materials
1. Pencil
2. Eraser
3. Piece of blank art paper
4. Ruler
5. Pencil Crayons

HOW DO WE ACHIEVE THIS?

From the top corner, to the bottom
corner draw a faint (light) line with
your ruler
Do the same to the other corners

Again, make sure your lines are light

enough so you can erase them
afterwards
Measure about 2 inches (5 cm) from
the centre point on each diagonal
mark this spot with a tiny dot

Connect the marks you made so you

make a small box (again, make sure
you use a light line)

Now, add additional lines from the centre point that

will become the tops and bottoms of
Chairs
Tables
Beds
Windows
Doors
And so on...
You get to choice your dcor and make your room into
a hallway, bedroom, school room, etc.
Room must be full of items minimum of 8
different objects
Must be coloured, leaving NO white spots on the
