What is Convergence?
Convergence is described as the process by which

more than one entity merge to produce a well

defined system. With the combination of digital
media, telecommunications and computer
technology, convergence takes place to produce
ICT. (EDTK2030, unit 1).

Objectives:
Children will be able to:
Recognize a crossing when they see one on their own.
Explain the importance of a pedestrian crossing and the stop sign.
Listening and visual skills through ICT convergence
Materials:
Computer and digital projector, stop sign, pedestrian crossing and
vehicles
Introduction:
Teacher displays a stop sign and elicits answers from the children
by asking who can tell me what are we to do when we hear the
word stop? Children will be given time to answer.

Procedure:
Step 1: Discuss the topic with children to find out
what they know about the pedestrian crossing.

Step 2: The computer and the projector will be

used to show a video as to how the crossing guard

functions at the pedestrian crossing.

Step 3: The children will then be taken out side and the crossing guard will
demonstrate how the pedestrian crossing functions. Children will cross using the
pedestrian crossing in groups as well as individually. Children will be asked to pay
close attention to the crossing guard and listen to his instructions as to how to cross
the street safely.

Assessment:
Use open ended questions.
Should we run across the street?
Why is the pedestrian crossing important?
What is the name of the tool that the crossing guard uses?
