The RU20 version of NSN supports "BTS Plug and Play" in quarter 1 of 2010.
With this feature, site engineers do not need to take laptops and near-end tools or interact with
OMC engineers.
The P7 version of Ericsson supports "RBS auto provision" feature in quarter 4 of 2008.
The near-end configuration is the simplest (Only the IP address needs to be configured.) Site
engineers must carry laptops with them, and thus the cooperation cost is high. Ericsson stresses
that few interactions are required between site engineers and OMC engineers and it takes less
than 10 minutes to deploy the RBS.
The W10 version of Ericsson supports the enhanced "RBS auto provision phase 2" function
in quarter 4 of 2009.
Added auto handling of SW, License Key & Security cred
The NodeB deployment through the USB disk and remote software commissioning functions
of Huawei RAN products should be enhanced and integrated.
The RAN10.0 supports NodeB deployment through the USB disk. Owing to the limitation in the
write time of the Flash, the NodeB deployment time is longer than that of Ericsson equipment;
the DHCP auto discovery function is applicable to few scenarios;
site engineers must carry laptops to the site, which is costly;
NodeB deployment requires a large number of manual interactions.

Benefits
Supporting auto and remote NodeB deployment and implementing end-to-end automation
Automatically generating complete NodeB deployment reports after the NodeB deployment is
complete, thus speeding up the project acceptance
Automatically monitoring the NodeB deployment process and generating intermediate NodeB
deployment reports, thus allowing engineers to learn the network status in time
Using AACP+DHCP to implement auto and remote allocation of IP addresses in all IP scenarios
Reducing the types of instruments (such as the laptop and SiteMaster) that are used for NodeB
deployment

Supported scenarios:
Networking scenarios:
Support all-IP networking and ATM/IP networking (the only concern is IP networking).
Support the VLAN-free, single-VLAN, and multi-VLAN scenarios in every networking scenarios.
Ensure that the transmission between the M2000 and the NodeB is normal.
Ensure that packets sent from two groups of UDP ports (67/68 and 65099/65100) are not
intercepted. For example, the firewall must be enabled and the switches should not intercept
packets sent from these ports.
In few scenarios, the rigid update of ARP entries is configured on the switch. In this case, routes
are updated only on the basis of the ARP request sent by the switch or the received free-of-charge
ARP response. When multiple NodeBs exist in the subnet, the OM channel can be connected for
the NodeB corresponding to the temporary IP address in the ACCP detection packet after the aging
of ARP entries on the switch. The aging of ARP entries takes 20 minutes.
If a NodeB is unavailable because the relay configured on this NodeB is abnormal, the ARP
request cannot be initiated because the ARP entries already exist on the switch. The XXCP
process can be re-initiated only after the aging of ARP entries on the switch. The aging of ARP
entries takes 20 minutes.

Basic principles:
Auto configuration can be implemented in two modes, namely, remote downloading from the M2000 and
near-end downloading from the USB disk. The software version used for upgrade and the data
configuration files are downloaded.
On the NodeB, the version downloaded from the USB disk is mutually exclusive with the version
downloaded from the M2000. Basically, the version downloaded from the M2000 prevails. If the version
downloaded from the M2000 is used for the upgrade, the NodeB records the M2000 upgrade flag in the
high-end memory. Before this flag is cleared, the version downloaded from the USB disk cannot be used
for upgrade.
The M2000 upgrade flag is cleared when the NodeB is reset upon power-off or when the engineering state
is restored.

Engineers only need to go to the site once. After the hardware is installed and powered
on, the version and configuration files can be downloaded through the USB disk to
trigger the self-test of the NodeB (including the hardware, CPRI, and antenna). Through
the ALM indicators, the fault location can be indicated and the hardware installation
faults can be detected and located in time.
15 min < Downtime during swap < 30 min
Auto Discovery
Process
Batch, auto, full-process, and comprehensive fault detection and indication functions are
provided. In particular, the NodeB configuration can be downloaded automatically.
Therefore, in non-swap scenarios, engineers only need to carry a USB disk that stores
the universal configuration. Because errors may easily occur when a USB disk is used
to prepare data, the universal configuration overcomes such defects.
For the RAN12, the M2000 provides the CRC function to verify the data consistency.
Only the following scenarios are supported:
RAN10->RAN12
RAN11->RAN12
RAN12->RAN12

Basic principles:
The SON deployment module of the M2000 can obtain all alarms of NodeBs and all NodeB-specific alarms
of upper-layer RNCs from the alarm management system. In addition, the SON deployment module can
classify these alarms based on the monitored objects. Users can query the alarms or trigger the fault
diagnosis operation through this software commissioning monitoring interface.
The SON deployment module of the M2000 subscribes to the status of logical cells from the RNC. The
RNC reports the status changes in real time. When the SON deployment module of the M2000 determines
that at least one logical cell is established, it automatically triggers the service verification.

Basic principles:
The following functions are supported: auto board fault
diagnosis, auto antenna diagnosis, query of the SWR of the
antenna, E1 port fault diagnosis of the RNC, and remote E1
loopback fault diagnosis of the RNC.
The M2000 triggers the diagnosis. The NE executes the
diagnosis script and reports the result to the M2000. The M2000
then displays the result to users to help users rectify the faults.
The M2000 automatically associates the fault alarm helps, which
provide instructions for users to locate and rectify the faults.

3. Close the

Basic principles:
The SON deployment module of the M2000 subscribes to the measurement data of verification indexes of
logical cells from the RNC.
Using the minimum measurement period supported by the RNC as the granularity, the SON deployment
module of the M2000 periodically queries the measurement result of verification indexes, makes judgment,
and then displays the results to users through the interface.

Verification result
Basic principles:
On the precondition that the IP address is the same, check whether the ESNs obtained in two ways are
the same and determine whether the IP address configuration of the NodeB is correct.
Same: indicates that the IP address configuration of the NodeB is correct.
Different: indicates that the IP address configuration of the NodeB is incorrect.
The verification result does not affect the auto process of the SON deployment module. It only informs the
deployment engineers whether the IP address configuration is correct. If the IP address configuration is
incorrect, check whether the issued incorrect data affects the running of the existing network. If the
running of the existing network is affected, modify the ESN data of the commissioning task and conduct
NE commissioning again. If the running of the existing network is not affected, no action is required.
Restrictions and constraints: None.
