MS-CIT Server Guide
Server Guide MS-CIT Online Examination Software

This document is the property of MSBTE All rights reserved
Sequence of activities that will be
performed by Exam Centers in order
to conduct MS-CIT Online
Examination.

Exam Activities in Sequence
Repeat
these steps
for next
exam
events

Double click on the MS-CIT Server icon on the
desktop of the Server Computer.

Exam Center Registration

Exam Center Registration (Only Once)
Exam Center Registration
1.Online Mode
Note The screen will

display Unregistered
against Center Name (in
the Top Left corner below
the banner )
Select Cancel to cancel the process.

Exam Center Registration (Only Once)
Online Mode
1.In case of Online Registration
your computer must be
connected to internet.
2.Enter the Exam Center Code

and Exam Center Password.
3.Select Login.
4.Software will check the Center

Code and Center Password for
validity with MSBTEs remote
server and if found correct it will
end the Online Registration
process here and you will
prompted to next screen.

Exam Center Activation

Exam Center Activation (Only Once)
Exam Center can activate the
center in two ways:
1.Activate the Center

via Internet
(Recommended)
2.Activate the Center

via Telephone
Note The screen will display

Center Code and Center
Name against Center Name
(in the Top Left corner below
the banner ) as center is now
registered.
Select Appropriate Activation Mode and then select Next to continue.

Mode
If Exam Center selects Internet
Activation then following screen
will be displayed.
To continue enter the Coordinator

Password.
Select Next to Activate Exam Center through Internet.

Select Back to change the Activation Mode.
Exam Center Activation (Telephonic)
Telephonic (Offline)
Mode
In case there is no Internet
Connectivity available for MS-CIT
Exam Server Computer then
Exam Center can select Activate
the Center via Telephone
Select Next to Activate Exam Center through Telephone.

Exam Center Activation (Telephonic)
If Exam Center selects Telephone
Activation then following screen
will be displayed.
Note: Read the steps given on

the screen to Activate Exam
Center Telephonically.
Select Next to Activate Exam Center .

Exam Center Activation Status
If Exam Center is Activated
Successfully , following screen will
be displayed.
But in case there are any other

problem like loss of Internet
connection etc. , it will display an
Error Message.
Select Next to Continue.


Alternate Backup Path

Alternate Backup
Path
1.In order to keep the database
backup on some other computer
in the exam center Alternate
Backup Path will be asked.
2.Alternate Backup Path must be

a mapped drive of some other
computer in the Server Computer.
(Read Note)
3.To specify the path select

Select Alternate Backup Path
4.Select Check Alternate Backup

Path to check whether the
specified path is proper or not.

5.On successfully checking
system will display this screen.
Note Giving Alternate

Backup Path is compulsory.
How to change Alternate

Backup Path?
You can change the Alternate

Backup Path if required in
case there is any problem with
the computer whose drive is
mapped.
To change the Alternate

Backup path use :
1.Tools Menu from Controllers

screen and
2.Opening Menu

Once Exam Center is Registered,
Activated and Alternate Backup
Path is specified system will
provide with Opening Menu.
The New Opening Menu is now

dived into four groups
1.Conduct Examination
2.Update Examination Data
3.Surrender Examination
4.Backup
Select Appropriate Option and then select Ok to Continue.

Conduct Examination has four
sub options.
1.Mock Test This option is

useful to check the exam setup,
network connectivity etc.
Conducting mock test is
compulsory henceforth
because based on the mock
data uploading exam centers
will get First Day Password.
2.Start Examination (Regular)

Conduct regular examination
after updating the system
Online or Offline.
3.Start Examination (Physically

Challenged) - Conduct
examination for physically
challenged students after
updating the system Online or
Offline

Mock Test
Note - Mock Test can be
conducted without data
update.
Mock Test and First Day

Password
1.Before every exam event

conducting Mock Test (on
10 Computers) will be
compulsory henceforth.
2.After Conducting Mock

Test Exam Center will have
to upload the Mock Test
Data to MSBTE Server.
3.Only after uploading the

Mock Test Data Exam Center
will be provided with First
Day Password.

To conduct mock Test
1. Select Mock Test from

Opening Menu.
2. Select Ok.

1.Select Start Registration from
Examination Tab.
2.Select the Predefined Exam

Date and Exam Time.
3.Enter Daily Password as mscit

and select OK.
4.Other processes are similar like

the old system.
Note - To conduct MOCK Test

First Day Password you will have to enter following
MKCL Learner IDs
To get first day password You can
conduct Mock Test (Dummy Test) 12345671 To 123456730
once the Exam Center is
Activated.
Note Mock Test must be
Select Conduct Mock Test conducted on 10 (Ten)
option from the Opening Menu to computers.
start Mock Examination.
Select OK to Continue.

Get First Day Password

1 First Day Password
1.Once Mock Test conducted then
go to Tools Tab to get First Day
Password.
2.Select Get First Day Password
3.It has two options i.e. Direct

Upload and External Upload
4.Direct Upload (Internet) will

transfer the Mock Data to MSBTE
2 server and will give you first day
password.

1.In case mock test is not
conducted on 10 machines
following error will appear.

1.In order to conduct Regular or
Physically Challenged
Examination, Exam Center will
need to Update Examination
Data in the system
Note - In case Exam Center

selects Start Examination
without Updating
Examination Data, then they
will get following error
message .

There are two ways of updating
examination data.
Update Data Offline
Update Data Online

(Recommended)

1.There must be internet
connection available to Update
Data Online
2.Select Update Data Online

from the opening menu
3.Select Ok button.

4.Select Exam Event from

available exam events.
5.Select Start Download button.
6.On selecting Start Download

button system will download all
required data to conduct the exam
for selected event.
7.Once the download is complete

system will display following
message.
8.Once data is downloaded

system is ready to conduct
examination for the selected
event.

1.Once the system is updated with
required data Exam Controller or
Coordinator can start exam.
2.Select Start Examination

2.Select Start Registration from

Cancel Registration
1.After Selecting Start
Registration candidate
registration process will start
from the client machine.
2.Please notice the change that

Start Registration will change to
Cancel Registration
In case there is some

problem on the client
machines because of which
you want to start the
registration process again
you can use this option.
3.Select End Registration to
Software Version is displayed here. end the registration process.

1.Select End Registration to
end the candidate registration
process.
2.Once Registration of Candidate

is complete list of Candidates
Registered will be displayed.
3.List of candidates absent for the

slot will also be displayed when
controller selects End Registration
from Examination Tab.
Note Once candidate

becomes Absent in the system
he will not be allowed to
appear for the current Exam
Event.
4.Controller can cancel the End
Registration if he had selected
that mistakenly by selecting No.
5.Selecting Yes will ask for

another confirmation.

Start and End
Examination
1.Select Start Examination to
start the examination on client
computer.
2.Select End Examination
Note In case controller selects

End Examination from server
computer and still there are some
candidates whose exam is still
going on then system will display
this message.

End Examination
1.Database backup is taken on
local machine as well as on
alternate backup path.
When backup is done

properly it will display this
message.
Backup may fail on alternate

backup path if it is not
available. In that case it will
display this message.

Candidate Reschedule
In case the candidate registered
from client computer is
rescheduled candidate then on
selecting End Registration
from Server computer you will
get following screen.
1.Select Candidate Registration

No.
2.The name will be displayed

automatically.
3.Select or type the reason of

rescheduled (Compulsory)
4.Select Submit and then

continue with next candidate if
any.

Reports Tab
1. Attendance
2. Provisional/Appearing
Certificate
3. Slot wise Details
4. Day Wise Report
5. Center Wise Report

Attendance Reports

Sample Provisional
Certificate
1.Provisional Certificate will be

issued to those candidates who
have taken admission before
January 2010 batch.

Certificate
1.Appearing Certificate will be
issued to those candidates who
have taken admission for January
2010 batch and onward.

House Keeping
This tab has one option:
1. Controllers Comments
Controller can put his feed back

about the Exam, Exam Center
etc. with the help of this option.

Client
This tab has one option:
1.Combined Data
This option is generally required

when candidate Ends Exam on
client but still his marks are not
shown on server computer. This
usually happens because of
network issues. So in order to get
his marks on server computer one
can use this option.
1.Select Browse.

3.Go to the client computer from

which marks are not updated to
server.
4.In the C:\Prgrams folder there is

a file with the name Client.mdb.
Select that file.

5.Select Import to start the

processing. This will import the
required data to server computer.
6.On successfully importing it will

display this message
7.Select Exit to come out of this

option.

Result Upload
This tab has two options:
1. Upload Result Now

(Recommended)
2. External Uploading

Upload Result Now
Using this option controller will
be allowed to upload the result
after every batch or at the end
of the day as well directly from
the server machine.
1.Select Exam Date
2.Select Direct Upload

External Uploading
Using this option controller will
be allowed to generate result
file and upload to MSBTE
server using MS-CIT Site after
every batch or at the end of
the day as well.

3.Software will start generating the

Result file.

Tools
This tab has four options:
1. Get First Day Password
2. Alternate Backup Path
3. Exam Support Executives
4. Re-Allocate Candidate Exam
We have already saw

first three options from
Tools Tab earlier in this
guide.
So let us understand
the last option i.e.
Re-Allocate Candidate
Exam

Re-Allocate
Candidate Exam
This option will be used

by Controller for those
candidates who is
having another exam
during his MS-CIT exam.
In this case controller

will be allowed to
change Exam Date and
Exam Time of such
candidate provided:
1.He approaches exam

centers at least 1 day
prior to his actual MS-Cit
exam.
2.He submits valid
support documents.

Re-Allocate
Candidate Exam
On successfully doing
the Re-allocation this
message will be
displayed.

Re-Allocate
Candidate Exam
On selecting Ok Re-
Allocation details will be
printed in two parts:
1.Exam Center Copy

2.Learner Copy
These details must be

submitted to RBTE with
all the valid proofs given
by the candidate.

1. Close Application
2. Go to Opening Menu

Surrender Examination

1. Once the examination of all

the candidates is over, on the
last day of exam, exam centre
has to surrender the exam
event to MSBTE server.
2. There are two ways of exam

surrender.
Surrender - Online
(Recommended)
Surrender Offline
Note This option will work

only if exam centers has
uploaded the result of all the
learners to MSBTE web site
either Online or Offline. (See
next slide)

Surrender - Online
1. Select Surrender Online
2. Select Ok.

Surrender - Online
1.Select Exam Event to
surrender.
2.Select Next
3.On selecting next you may get

this message if all candidate data
is not uploaded to MSBTE server.

Surrender - Online
1.Select Exam Event to surrender
2.Select Next
3.System will ask for confirmation.
4.Once confirmed system will ask

for Coordinator and Controller
password.
5.Very first system will take

database backup.
6.Once backup is done it will

remove all the unwanted data
from the system.

Surrender - Online
1.System will display this
message once surrender is done
successfully.
2.Selecting Ok will open the

Conclusion Certificate which exam
center can print and submit to
MSBTE.
