Marginali
Context: ze
Indeed, if some knowledges have been
used to silence, marginalizd and render People of Color
invisible, then Outsider knowledges, mestiza
knowledges and transgressive knowledges can value the
presence and voices of People of Color, and can re-
envision the margins as places empowered by
transformative resistance.
My Definition: To segregate from a group
Definition: Treat (a person, group, or concept) as
insignificant or peripheral
Why it matters: In Yossos text, this word is
important because his whole argument is about how
Visualiza
tion This visual best
represents the term
marginalize, mostly
in the context of
Yosso. Showing how
peopler based on color
are grouped together
and are limited to only
associate themselves
with their own kind.
Ende
mic
Context: Yosso uses endemic as a way to show
a way of subordination amongst races
My Definition: a way of being part of a group
Definition: Belonging exclusively or confined to
a particular place
Why it Matters: Yosso tries addressing how US
functions in which the word endemic is essential
to understanding
Question: What would prevent endemic from

Regina can be used as a
representation of the
control and influence the
US hierarchical society has
over everyone and only
certain people can be a
part of it, must have the
qualities, meaning
education, socioeconomic
status and physical look,
Conceptual
Knowledge
Context: In the passage it talks about how we process our
information as readers
My Definition: what you learn within the text itself
Definition: knowledge of the courses subject matter.
Why it Matters: its the way we read and absorb the
information that we see
Question: What is the value of conceptual knowledge?
Visualiza
tionI chose this image that has
many overwhelming
academic subjects that
represents just the
courses and the idea that
there is information that
can be learned.
Procedural
Knowledge
Context: The passage talks about nderstanding our
reading process as readers
My Definition: the process of how we learn what we
read
Definition: The ability to apply conceptual knowledge
to new problems by using the disciplines characteristic
methods of thinking.
Why it Matters: thinking of how you process your
reading is important in order to know how to read efficiently
Question: What is the purpose of procedural
knowledge?
Visualizati
on I chose this image of a
text being annotated just
so that it can represent
the text itself being
personalized in a way. The
colors and the side notes
represents the readers
thinking when reading and
how they are processing
the information given by
color coding . This is an
example of procedural
knowledge.
Creator
Context: Mindset
how you deal with your personal and academic
issues
My Definition: focusing on coming up with a positive
solution
Definition: Causes people to see multiple options,
choose wisely among them, and take effective actions to
achieve the life they want.
Why it Matters: having a creator mindset can help
you figure out your problems and be more successful with
them
Question: What are the effects of creator
Visualiza
tion I chose this image to
show how a person with
a creator mindset will
have many choices that
they can choose from
that can eventually lead
them to a certain
destination and there is
only one person who can
choose what way to go
and that would be
yourself
Inner
Context: Guide
This section in On Course talks about how
to self-talk and what are the voices in your head
My Definition: Inner guide is the voice the
thinks about how to make the best decision and guide
you towards doing so
Definition: The wise inner voice that seeks to
make the best of any situation.
Why it Matters: It is important to think about
all the positive solutions
Question: What would prevent inner guide
from happening?
Visualizati
on I chose this image to
represent how the inner
guide is the voice that
makes the right
decisions that can lead
to success. This little
person would represent
the inner guide and
having the cape on
would represent being
the good voice who is
string and knows what
to do.
Subver
Context: sive
Calderon-Douglass talks about
how celebrities approach the Chola style and a
subversive style
My Definition: Going agains;t the flow
and being different
Definition: seeking or intended to subvert
an established system or institution
Why It Matters: Majority of people know
the chola style to being subversive in which that
brings a negative connotation
Visualizat
ion This image represents
how Cholas were seen,
they were different. They
didnt follow the norms
nor the fashion that
everyone else did and
although it is different it
isnt terrible nor violent.
It is just a way to show
how they are different
from all Americans, in a
way that doesnt
physically disturb anyone.
Cultural
Appropriation
Context: Continues talking about how the
Chola look is misunderstood and is seen more as a
costume
My Definition: Being ignorant and
stereotypicla of a culture
Definition: Adoption or use of elements of
one culture by members of another culture
Why It Matters: It is important to know
because this is a major problem for the Chola look
that is talked about in this paper and is often a
problem now as well
Visualiza
tionI chose this image to
represent cultural
appropriation because
Calderon-Douglass talks
about how people dress like
the chola style but take it
out of context and dont
value the actual culture and
I chose these costumes to
show another way to
represent Cultural
Appropriation because
people dress up for
Context:

Dr. King talks about how he was called an
extremist and how he was bothered at first, then thinking
that he actually feels satisfaction knowing that. Mentions
examples like God being considered an extremist of love
and how being an extremist isnt necessarily a negative
thing.
My Definition: Someone who is very passionate
about an idea and advocates it very powerfully.
Definition: a person who holds extreme or fanatical
political or religious views, especially one who resorts to
or advocates extreme action.
Why It Matters: This term matter because not only
does it show how passionate Dr. King was about getting

The position of his hand
