What is post-traumatic stress disorder???

PTSD can develop following a traumatic event


that threatens your safety or makes you feel
helpless.
Ex: War, Natural disasters, car or plane crashes,
terrorist attacks, sudden death of a loved one,
rape, kidnapping, assault, sexual or physical
abuse or childhood neglect. (the feeling of being
out of control)
What are normal reaction to abnormal event?
It is normal to feel the following :
Disconnected
To have bad dreams
Feel fearful
Can not stop thinking about the event
What are the signs of post-traumatic stress disorder
for children and adolescents?
They act out the trauma while they play with friends
They have nightmares; sleeping problems
Acting out
They lose control of already learned skills such as toilet training
They feel pains and are sick for no reason
Other causes of factors that PTSD children could
face
Lack of dealing with their emotions
High levels of stress in everyday life
Family history of PTSD or history of depression, anxiety or
mental illness.
