Quadrophenia (1979)
Based on the rock opera of the famous band The Who, Quadrophenia is a
film that portrays very well the English youth of the 60s, starting from the
base of two facing street bands: the mods and the rockers.
Its premiere was highly criticized since the film contained good doses of
violence and was on the screen the abuse of drugs, a subject that was taboo
for the English society at that time.
Quadrophenia is a flawless and faithful portrait. Perhaps its crudity is what
made the film version highly criticized, as it debuted at a time when the UK
had made a notable conservative turn.
Trainspotting (1996)
Trainspotting is one of the most important films of the 1990s and certainly
one of the most important in the history of Scottish cinema, if not the most
popular.
The controversy of the film was based on the use of drugs by the
protagonists which is often mistakenly seen as an apology, when in fact it was
the crude treatment that had never been done on the subject on the big
screen
