one side of the oval and the girls hostel to the PRIVATE N
other side.
Site contour is managed very well and the OAT in the middle segregates the public area from
girls hostel but still design fails to protect the privacy of girls hostel because of the only play
area provided in the front.

NIFT,Bhopal The entrance of the campus is heavily
surrounded by trees and plantations
maintained by government authorities, which

protect it from the air and noise pollution of
the city. The 'Kaliya Sot' dam is located at the
rear end of the campus and the Kolar river, a
tributary of Narmada, flows alongside the
campus. All these together make up the
delicate picturesque beauty of the campus

The site is a flat land.
There is proper seggregation of the blocks as per depending on the
functioning of the building blocks.
There are 5 big staircases running whitin the whole campus.

Inner facade treatment is given to the

academic section to enhance a cool
semi open space but it looks very
heavy.
 The auditorium stands right opoosite to the
entrance.
The conical extrusion on top grabs the attention.

The design is creating a good environment for students and it looks lively with having nicely maintained
gardens and trees.
And also the design fails to use the site effectively.
And another point is about the recessed windows creating a good useful storage space from inside.
Many open spaces are left barren which could have been effectively used.

SECTION OF THE UNDERBELLY:

The building is protected from

the environment by a double skin
traditionally known as JALI.
The double skin acts as a thermal
buffer between the building and
the surroundings.

Open courtyards allow The outer skin sits 4 feet

sufficient day lighting inside
studios and classrooms.
The self-shading courts on the
internal areas help to control
the temperature of internal
spaces
away from the building
and reduces the direct
heat gain through
fenestrations.

The corridor while linking the departments
physically provide ample of space for the casual
activities and informal fashion shows.
There is a contrast of space from narrow to wide,
short to tall, enclosed concrete to the exposed
steel structure gives an interesting sense of
aesthetics.

of two materials- Concrete
blocks for walls and a lot of
steel work.
Landscape courtyards are

many places to form semi covered
