LOG PERIODIC DIPOLE ANTENNA

By Paolo Z. Santiago
What is a Log Periodic Dipole Array ?
The Log Periodic Dipole Array (LPDA) is one of
a family of frequency-independent antennas. Alone,
an LPDA forms a directional antenna with relatively
constant characteristics across a wide frequency
range.
The LPDA is the most popular form of log-
periodic systems, which also include zig-zag,
planar, trapezoidal, slot, and V forms. The appeal
of the LPDA version of the log periodic antenna
owes much to its structural similarity to the Yagi-
Uda parasitic array. Common names for such
hybrid arrays are the log-cell Yagi or the Log-Yag.
