209 – Neon Lights Outside the Venue

This photo came out quite blurry, but it had an aura of sleaze
that I liked. The place did look a little seedy from the outside.
215 – Street View of the Entrance to Blues on Whyte

The entrance to the pub was rather drab and certainly no

indication of the vibrant music that was going on inside.
217 – Setting Up the Stage

A flash photo, and not entirely in focus. The band started

playing just a few minutes later.
218 – First Song of the Set

The band looks like they’re on fire here. Musically, they pretty
much were.
223 – Second Song

An action shot from the center-right of the floor. This one’s

almost in focus.
227 – George Taylor

The rhythm guitarist and one of the two lead vocalists, Taylor
repped the birthplace of the electric blues via T-shirt and
remained perched on a stool for the whole set. He also
held his guitar distinctively - almost like a lap steel.
232 – Russell Jackson

Bass player and second lead vocalist Jackson was touted on

the website as hailing “from Memphis, Tennessee”. He
proved equally adept at the soul and funk covers the band
offered in addition to more traditional blues material.
233 – Lead Guitarist

The lead guitarist, whose name I did not get, was particularly
adept with slide and wah-wah techniques.
242 – Drummer

Regrettably I did not get the drummer’s name either. I also

didn’t pay as much attention to his playing as I might
have, but he kept a steady groove – “in the pocket”
throughout.
235 – Band from the Right

Not especially good focus here, but with flash I got a brighter
picture and overcame some of the glare from the red
stage lights which flooded other photos.
247 – Audience Dancing

By the middle of the first set, audience members were clearly

enjoying themselves.
249 – Audience Dancing II

This photo was weirdly overexposed, but I think it captures

the motion and the mood of the scene nicely.
260 – George Taylor II

A higher resolution picture of Mr. Taylor, with a fairly apt

desciptor of his musical style on the banner draped
behind him.
261 – Audience Applause

The audience shows its appreciation after a number near the

end of the first set.
266 – Russell Jackson II

Mr. Jackson lays down the bottom line.

267 – Set Break

The band decamps after the first set and Jackson greets a
fan.
268 – The Bar

Audience members and bar patrons chat while the

band takes a break after their first set.
269 – Couples Dancing

At the start of the second set, a number of middle-aged

couples engaged with the music on the dance floor.
282 – The Audience Fills the Floor

By the third or fourth song the floor was getting quite

crowded, with a generationally mixed audience enjoying the
music alone, in couples or in groups.
291 – Lead Guitarist Action Shot

This photo came out overexposed, but I thought it captured

the dynamism of the performance quite nicely.
296 – A Couple Dancing

This couple was clearly having a great time. They were on

the floor throughout both sets.
298 – Packing Up

Just after the performance ends, the band packs up their

gear while audience members chat and mingle.
304 – Buying a CD

A middle aged gentleman chats with Russell before

purchasing one of the band’s CDs after the show.
