well as a rising Chinas
disruptive posture in the east
and South China Seas (and
beyond).

many countries in
periphery fear losing
is their pivot
state status.

The key issue is that

regionalism clearly
make global issue
harder to tackle.

Thus, not only does the
peripherys dependence on the
core not necessarily grant it
stability or sustainability,
it also tarnishes the silver
lining of increased autonomy
in a world with less global
leadership.
