MANAGEMENT
In the following discussion some of the most simple and general safety
issues which must be followed in the site are shown:
•Excavation
•House Keeping
•Scaffolding
•Working at heights
Safety problems in core
areas:
1. EXCAVATION
PROBLEM
Excavation was carried out for
the depth of more than 3 m
without any slope for a running
length of more than 50m
SOLUTION
Slope should be provided at
regular intervals to avoid
collapse and injuries
PROBLEM
No proper approach path to the
excavated area
SOLUTION
Approach path is a must for
excavated area to avoid laborers
from falling into excavated area
PROBLEM
No precautionary measures were
taken to prevent the tree from
falling into the excavated area.
SOLUTION
Either the tree should have been
cut or it should have been
strengthened
2.House keeping
PROBLEM
TMT rods were not stacked and
were found lying on main
approach road to the site
SOLUTION
TMT rods should been stacked
properly and approach should be
devoid of any
PROBLEM
Debris were dumped within the
construction site
SOLUTION
Debris should be dumped in
proper landfills to avoid breeding
of mosquitoes
3.SCAFFOLDING:
PROBLEM
Foot bearing plate was found
missing in scaffolding base
SOLUTION
Foot bearing plates should be
provided to prevent the
scaffolding collapse.
4.WORKING AT HEIGHTS:
PROBLEM
Laborers were found working without helmets and safety belts at
heights more than 12m
SOLUTION
Helmets and safety belts
are a must while working
at a height of above 4m to
avoid any fatalities.
PROBLEM
No walking platform was used for
working at heights
SOLUTION
A firm, well supported walking
platform should be used while
working at heights to ensure
safety
GENERAL SAFETY
PROBLEMS
Worker was found without hand
gloves, safety helmets, safety
shoes
SOLUTION
Hand gloves, safety helmets and
safety shoes are must to
minimize the fatalities during
accidents.
