JOGGING
(CNC MANUAL OPERATION)
Jog Mode
CNC machine Jog mode is one of the most used CNC
mode. Jog mode is mostly used to travel the CNC machine
carriage ( or CNC machine Slide) such as CNC machine’s axis
movement e.g. x-axis y-axis z-axis. These axis movement is
controlled via axis specific keys or through the CNC machine hand
wheel.
Definition of points on a surface
All points on the work-piece surface, defined by the X and
Y values, while Z values denote the depth of tool in-feed.
Y Y

X X

Considering first the work-piece surface. A two

dimensional coordinate system were created, the X and the Y axis.
Definition of points on a surface
The points of intersection of this two axis is called zero. If a
graduated scale is place along each axis, we can define any points on
the surface by means of its X and Y axis values.

Definition of points in space
If we include the Z axis, we will have a three dimensional coordinate
system. The Z values indicated up and down movement of the tool and its
cutting depth.
Example: P1: Z12
P2: Z5
P3: Z5
P2: Z0 Y
