Dream job turned into a
nightmare

Ben Southall got a “dream job”, looking after
Hamiltom Island, after de cost of Queensland,
Australia but the job turned into a nightmare.
Three things help it make “the best job”: surfing,
swimming and being paid US$189.000 for six
month. He had to do these three activities and
others like feeding some dangerous fish and
writing a blog of his experiences to help encourage
tourism in the area. But the job was not as “ideal”
as it seemed at first. He was very busy all the time.
Ben found himself working seven days a week and
working nineteen hours a day. One day, the man
had an accident with a jelly fish and in his free
time, after Christmas felt a small bee sting in his
forearm. In thirty minutes he was feeling the effect
of the poison. Ben was lucky to survive. Finally,
this experience became something good. He
would write a book about his days in the” dream
job”.
ABORTION
A judge overturned the restrictions on legal abortion in the
city of Buenos Aires and Ramos Mejía hospital director steps down.

Days before, a judge reversed the restrictive measures that Mauricio
Macri´s government had implemented about abortion.
The legislation annulled the top of twelve weeks gestation for abortion. It
also annulled the requirement of permission from parents or guardians to
adolescents over 14 years old with access to the intervention.
Buenos Aires government does not want to turn the law back and
appeals the measure. PRO members said that the judge deleted the most
important points like the requirement of women´ evaluation by a multidisciplinary
committee.
Legislators of the opposition said that the judge's measure was
"exemplary".
The Director of Ramos Mejia Hospital, Doctor Carlos Mercau, resigned
from his post on 12th November. The hospital was due to undertake the first non-
punishable abortion. However it was suspended due to a legal claim that had been
presented by the “Pro Familia” religious group.
Buenos Aires City Health Minister Graciela Reybaud stated yesterday
that the doctor had resigned from his post because of “personal reasons”.
However, Alejandro Bodart (Deputy from MST-South Project party) said “Mercau
was directly responsible for obstructing the legalized abortion because he revealed
the patient’s confidential information”.

On Strike! World cities are not ready for

Buenos Aires - From 12 o
clock all train, buses and taxis stopped.
Many shops did not open their doors
and banks are closed too. Gas station
do not spend gas. Trucks blocked the
main avenues. Hospital only provides
emergency service. However, schools
and the subway work as usual.
The reason for the strike is
mainly taxes on salary. Government
says it is a political extortion and the
syndicates are mad. By now they have
not reached an agreement.
Freak Storms.

Today, there are many cities around the
world that are not ready for storms. This
creates a lot of economy's problems. Last
week we saw the power of storms in three
different cities: Buenos Aires, New York and
Venice.
In Buenos Aires a heavy rain caused
floods and many people were evacuated.
The hurricane, Sandy, brought many
problems and killed people
in New York last week. In Venice the rise of
the sea brought floods and many people had
to be evacuated from their homes too.
