Objective 1: state the remainder and factor theorem.

Note: This theorem gives a simple method for evaluating the remainder only. If the quotient is required,
long division must be used.

Note: This theorem is very useful when factorizing polynomials of degree greater than 2. Also, note (1) on
pg 34 of The Complete Course for A-level .

Objective 2: divide polynomials up to the third degree by linear expressions. Method of long division and
inspection.
