INTERNET WORKING

6
CONT…….
Internetworking is the practice of connecting a
computer network with other networks through
networks. The resulting system of interconnected
networks is called an internetwork, or simply an
internet.

The art and science of connecting individual local-

area networks (LANs) to create wide-area
networks (WANs), and connecting WANs to form
even larger WANs. Internetworking can be
extremely complex because it generally involves
connecting networks.
7
INTERCONNECTION OF INTERNET

8
CONT…..
Interconnection of networks
•Internetworking started as a way to connect disparate types of networking technology,
but it became widespread through the developing need to connect two or more local
area networks via some sort of wide area network. The original term for an internetwork
was catenet.
•The definition of an internetwork today includes the connection of other types of
computer networks such as personal area networks.
•Another type of interconnection of networks often occurs within enterprises at the Link
Layer of the networking model, i.e. at the hardware-centric layer below the level of the
TCP/IP logical interfaces. Such interconnection is accomplished with network bridges and
network switches. This is sometimes incorrectly termed internetworking, but the
resulting system is simply a larger, single sub network, and no internetworking protocol,
such as Internet Protocol, is required to traverse these devices. However, a single
computer network may be converted into an internetwork by dividing the network into
segments and logically dividing the segment traffic with routers.

15
CONT……
Electronic business, commonly referred to as
"eBusiness" or "e-business", may be defined as the
application of information and communication
technologies (ICT) in support of all the activities of
business. Commerce constitutes the exchange of
products and services between businesses, groups
and individuals and can be seen as one of the
essential activities of any business. Electronic
commerce focuses on the use of ICT to enable the
external activities and relationships of the business
with individuals, groups and other businesses

INTERNET WORKING BUSINESS
MODEL
In the most basic sense, a business model is the method of doing
business by which a company can sustain itself -- that is, generate
revenue. The business model spells-out how a company makes
money by specifying where it is positioned in the value chain.
Some models are quite simple. A company produces a good or
service and sells it to customers. If all goes well, the revenues from
sales exceed the cost of operation and the company realizes a profit.
Other models can be more intricately woven. Broadcasting is a good
example. Radio and later television programming has been
broadcasted over the airwaves free to anyone with a receiver for
much of the past century. The broadcaster is part of a complex
network of distributors, content creators, advertisers (and their
agencies), and listeners or viewers. Who makes money and how
much is not always clear at the outset. The bottom line depends on
many competing factors.

36
CONT…..
Internet commerce will give rise to new kinds of business models. That much is
certain. But the web is also likely to reinvent tried-and-true models. Auctions are a
perfect example. One of the oldest forms of brokering, auctions have been widely
used throughout the world to set prices for such items as agricultural commodities,
financial instruments, and unique items like fine art and antiquities. The Web has
popularized the auction model and broadened its applicability to a wide array of goods
and services

Business models have been defined and categorized in many different ways. This is
one attempt to present a comprehensive and cogent taxonomy of business models
observable on the web. The proposed taxonomy is not meant to be exhaustive or
definitive. Internet business models continue to evolve. New and interesting
variations can be expected in the future.

WHAT IS INTERNET???

The Internet is a global network of computer

networks. Each of these networks contains
anywhere from two to thousands of computers
that are linked together using special rules called
protocols. When computers are connected to the
Internet they are able to communicate and share
information.
49
INTERNET WORKING IN AN
ENVIRONMENT
Computers that are connected to the Internet
communicate with each other using a
protocol.
Protocol is a standard set of regulations and
requirements that allow two electronic items
to connect, exchange information with one
another. AND it enables to connect two
devices and transmit data to one another.

50
INTERNET WORKING PERFORMANCE
51
INTERNET AND ITS WORKING
PERFORMANCE?
• As Internet application is a web based
and customizable platform, Internet
development firms can facilitate you
with the functions that a firm need while
developing it activities. Be it a financial
institution or BPO set-up, travel portal or
web solution it provides, for all types of
industries, internet is very helpful.
52
Contd…….
• Internet is very useful for today's world, and
with out which, management work also gets a
break.
• With out internet, one cannot contact his
subordinate in a large organization.
• And it is not possible to go to, every
subordinate and inform him, what to do and
what not to do….

53
Contd…….
• Internet working helps in world wide contact
and helps management to know about their
competitors position in the market.
• And internet helps management in better
communication within the organization.
• As we all know that communication plays a
important role in an organization for
management and INTERNET makes it more
efficient and effective.
