The 5th term of an A. P. is -8 and the 30th term is -108.
What is the 12th term?
Solution: an = a1 + (n-1)d
a5 = -8 = a1 + (5-1)(d) ← eq. 1
a30 = -108 = a1 + (30-1)(d) ← eq. 2
therefore; a1 = 8 & d = -4
