The majority of PS data in the wireless network is sent over the TCP protocol. Data
transmission over the TCP protocol generally has the following drawbacks:
l The round trip time (RTT) between a UE and the service provider (SP) is long, which
decreases the TCP data transmission rate.
Fact Findings / RTT is the duration from the time a data packet is sent by the sender to the time the
Background sender receives an acknowledgment for that data packet.
l Packet loss over the Uu interface reduces the size of the TCP congestion window (CWND).
As a result, the TCP data transmission rate slows down
