K: Word Families & Sight Words; The more sight words
the students know, the more fluent they become!

2nd-5th: Fluent Lesson Plan Jan Richardson FLUENCY

Students must be fluent readers in order to attain


these levels.

● Fluency Center : FCRR, Reading A-Z


● Progress Monitor Dorf Fluency in addition to TRC
We must have Readers that WRITE!

K: Level E (EOY Goal) does not have a written comprehension component but
Level F does ! Therefore, we should still practice written comprehension during
guided reading groups.

1-5th: ALL desired EOY levels contain written comprehension

Students must be able to write a response using the text in order to be


successful.

● Practice mClass stems using leveled readers


● Allow students to “grade” their own responses.
○ Re-read the question. Can I find an answer in my writing for EACH
part of the question?

● Regular Progress Monitoring
○ Red- every 10, Yellow- every 20 days, Green- once per quarter
● Annotation Strategies
○ Close Reading:
● Read-Alouds to encourage classroom reading & reading at home
● Differentiated Instruction - Guided Reading Groups (based on a
mixture of mClass, Lexia, iReady, Unit & Formative Assessments)

● Administer Lexia Lessons as needed


MATHEMATICS
● Number Talks & Number Sense
● Word Problem Strategies
○ CUBES
● Daily Math Tasks
● Pull Guided Math groups, daily, assure a mixture of word-based,
hands-on, and independent/group work activities
● AssignFocus Lessons on Dreambox (focus on more critical or weaker
standards)
● Assign Homework directly related to standard(s) being taught,
constantly spiral review standards from previous quarters
Science
● Use a mixture of visual, written, hands-on, and electronic resources to truly
engage students.. We have to be creative!
○ Videos can be checked out from the media center, Bill Nye and Planet Earth
are also online for extensions
○ Websites such as StudyJams, Discovery Education,

● Integrate into ELA and Mathematics Lessons (i.e. pull science passages or create
math problems with science vocabulary from the unit)
● Reach out to Ms. Bista for advice - start motivating students for the Science Fair
in January
