Written By Who?
Stephen King is the author of various
books, such as It, Misery, and The Shining,
and Cujo being one of his most famous
novels and best-sellers.

previously stated, edited by Viking Press
and published on September 8 1981, with 320

Personal Experiences
One of his finest masterpieces, and believe
it or not, King does not remember writing
it. Stephen King has had several drug and
alcohol problems. He explains being so
narcotized that he basically remembers 10%
of what he wrote. How does this relate to
the book?
Our Inner Demons and
Addictions
Throught the whole book we are shown one
huge metaphor that can easily go
unnoticed, so subtle that without a grasp of
what addictions are it will seem unnoticed.

The dog= Symbol

The car= Symbol Huge Metaphor

The bat= Symbol

What Is it Really About?
At its surface, King's novel is a story about
a Saint Bernard who has the bad luck of
getting rabies and terrorizes a mother and
son, trapped in a deadly car. But beyond
that, Cujo is a story about desperation,
about the monsters that lurk within all of us
and about the way we all strive to displace
blame in an effort to make better certain
circumstances.
Literary Devices
“The monster never dies” Stephen King,
Cujo.

“… it was more like bleeding than

crying” Stephen King, Cujo.

“The world was full of monsters, and

they were all allowed to bite the
innocent and the unwary”

“All the logic in the world could not

blunt the pain. Logic could not blunt her
terrible sense of personal failure. Only
time would do those things, and time
would do an imperfect job.”
