“Winery Svishtov”

“I pray you, do not fall in love

with me, for I am falser than
vows made in wine.”
― William Shakespeare
Brief history
 “Winey Svishtov” was established
in 1950 and has been producing
all sorts of wine to this very day.
 The institution is very big giving a
perfect example of the socialistic
times when it was first built.
 Even after the end of the Council
for Mutual Economic
Assistance(COMECON), “Winery
Svishtov” has never had any loans
or problems with the making of
the wine whereas other
institutions in Svishtov have.
Many of have closed due to the
lack of market.
The production of wine
 The main types of wine
that are made in
“Winery Svishtov” are
Cabernet Sauvignon,
Merlot and Chardonnay.
 The fields where all of
this is grown are in the
area of Gorchivka and
Sovata.
 The fields require a
conversion (to uproot and
replant) that makes sure
the wine is always in good
condition.
 Around 1,8 million
kilograms of wine is
harvested annually from
which 800 000 goes to
other institutions.
 Interesting fact: 1
kilogram of grapes equals
620-750 grams of wine.
 Furthermore, there are two places where you
can buy the ready wine. The first one is from the
cellar where the wine is fresh and hasn’t
matured. The price of it is fairly low for a standart
wine.
 The other place where most of the wine comes
from is the factory. There, the wine is matured
and has more depth to the taste therefore the
wine is more expensive than the not matured
wine.
Fund management
 All of this requires funding.
Around 3 million leva per
year is the income of
“Winery Svishtov”.
 The expenses go for
investments in workers and
better distributors. Also in
maintaining the equipment
and paying the worker.
Around 14 million leva go
for the fields and 3-4 million
for equipment.
Distributing the wine
 “Winery Svishtov” has many
rewards from prestigious
competitions. This directly
affects the amount of sales
and cost of the wine.
 Furthermore, advertisements
and fairs in the city are a
perfect way to remind the
buyers to essentially keep
buying.
 Our wine is not only popular
in our city but in big countries
such as Paris, Italy, Germany,
England and many more.
