Seventy-two masonry prisms were constructed and tested to
evaluate the capacity and behavior of high-strength structural
masonry subject to compressive concentric and eccentric
loading

3. Rehabilitation of earthquake damaged external RC beam-
column joints by joint enlargement using prestressed steel angles

This paper talks about the effectiveness of a rehabilitation method

based on joint enlargement using prestressed steel angles to enhance
the seismic behavior of damaged external reinforced concrete beam-
column joints, the test results indicated that the seismic performance of
the rehabilitated specimens in terms of strength, stiffness, and ductility
was fully recovered and comparable with the performance of the
seismically detailed specimen.

we can build, maintain and rehabilitate structures to avoid damages
and economic or human losses in case of natural disasters such as
earthquakes.

It is important for the class because this course is focused on research
and these topics are very interesting to look for new things because a
material like concrete is heterogeneous and changes a lot.
It is also necessary to know how bad design or lack of control of certain
structures can cause serious problems in buildings.
