 What is nominal or categorical measurement?

This level of measurement, categorize observations into categories that are

mutually exclusive, in a way that facilitates the entry of measurements or codes to
be analyzed.

 What operations are allowed on measurements of categorical level?

1. Counting the number or the % of instances of a category

2. Identifying the category with the most observations (the ‘mode’ or ‘modal
category’)
3. Drawing frequency tables and/or frequency diagrams.

 Give examples of statistical tests that are suited to categorical measurement.

o Normal distribution and its level of confidence.

o Bivariate Chi2
o Binomial test.
o logistic regression
