INTRODUCTION:

The aim of structural engineer is to design safe ,

durable & economical structure. Different software
are available which helps engineer to carry analysis,
design and drafting of complex shapes and high
rise buildings. The aesthetic aspect are looked after
by an architect while the aspects of safety,
serviceability and durability are attended by an
structural designer. Many times a structural
engineer has to act both as an architect & the
structural designer. The entire process of structural
planning & design required not only imagination &
conceptual thinking but also sound knowledge of
science of structural engineering.
OBJECTIVES:
The main objectives for structural designer
are to design a structure for three basic
requirements:
1.Stability : To prevent buckling, overturning and
sliding of structure or its parts under the action
of loads.
2.Strength: To provide safety and to resist stresses
induced by loads in various structural members.
3.Serviceability: Providing adequate stiffness and
reinforcement to contain deflections and vibrations
within acceptable limits and also providing
impermiability and durability.
PEB STRUCTURES:
Metal building systems or pre-engineered
buildings may be relatively new concept in INDIA but
it is quite an old concept in foreign countries. Hence
most multinational customers coming to INDIA have
experienced the benefit of PEB`s for there projects.
Time is precious & this is where PEB`s
obviously score over any other building system and
these also have many advantages over conventional
erection practices & are very well suited for wide range
of applications. These are faster to construct, free, offer
architectural flexibility, look pleasing.
LITERATURE REVIEW:
1.U.D.Dabhade, N.A.Hedaoo, Dr.L.M.Gupta and Dr.G.N
(2009); Observed that time saving of 53.3% is achieved
due to the use of steel framed composite floor
construction rather than pre-cast framed with per-cast
concrete floor and 14.3% time than that of steel frame
with per-cast concrete slab.
2.Syed Firoz, Satrath, Chandra kumar, et.al(2012);
Observed that, the pre-engineered steel building
system construction has great advantages to the single
story buildings, practical and efficient alternative to
the conventional buildings, the system representing
one central model within multiple disciplines.
3.C.M.Meera(2013); Observes that pre-engineered building
concept is a new conception of single storey industrial
building construction. This methodology is versatile not
only due to its quality pre-designing and pre-fabrication,
but also due to its light weight and economical
construction. The concept includes the technique of
providing the best possible sections according to the
optimum requirement.
4.Aijaz Ahmed Zende, Prof.A.V.Kulkarni, et.al(2013);
Observes that even though PEB structures provides clear
span it weighs lesser than that of conventional steel
buildings. Infinitely recyclable, steel is the material that
reflects the imperatives of sustainable development. For
longer span structures conventional buildings are not
suitable for clear spans.
ADVANTAGES OF PEB`s:
>Construction time.
>Low cost(Economical).
>Flexibility of expansion.
>Large clear span.
>Quality control.
>Low maintenance.
>Architectural versatility.
