MONGOLS BETTER

a vision by Luvsandash Ninjjamts

MNB’s General Director
MNB’s Mission

• To contribute to the information,

education and entertainment of
the Mongolians, free of
commercial and political
interests, at an affordable price.
Six essential ingredients to
achieve MNB’s mission
1. Editorial independency

2. Financial resources

3. Content

4. Distribution platforms

5. Audience engagement

6. Support to the development of

the Mongolian creative
industry
Editorial independency
• cannot be achieved without having
all the stakeholders understanding
the need for it

• cannot be achieved without

securing an yearly funding
mechanism that is free of influence
from the government

• cannot be achieved without

upgrading the mentalities of MNB’s
staff

• cannot be achieved without a well

trained and remunerated
professional workforce
Financial resources
1. Should be secured free of
political influence

2. Should be regularly updated to

reflect the creative industry
rates

3. Should not attract opportunists

for quick getting rich schemes
The content
• should provide people with what
they need and want

• should be of the highest quality

both technical and editorial

• should be of high moral values

• should inspire the audiences to

preserve and develop the
Mongolian culture

• should also fill the gaps that the

private sector cannot or doesn’t
want to do it
The distribution platforms

1. We should go where people

are

2. We should verticalise the

platforms to reflect audiences
needs

3. We should ensure that

whatever the platform we still
serve the hard to reach
audiences
The Audience Engagement

• we should set-up mechanisms

to consistently monitor and
listen to our audiences

• we should engage the civil

society into creating the content

• everything we do should have

the audience as the main pillar
Support to the development of the
Mongolian Creative Industry

1. We should outsource a certain

percentage of our content
production to independent
producers

2. We should be courageous in
commissioning content

3. We should set the standard for

the creative industry
CONCLUSIONS
1. The public is our master, not the government

2. Understand the mission of a public broadcaster

3. Without money free of political influence is very hard to achieve

our mission

4. Let us do our job

5. Let the public evaluate our job

6. MNB should be a unifier, not a divider
