• 1. A certain particle travels on a circular path of 6 m radius. The arc
distance of the particle from a fixed point on the path is given by s =
3t2 – 8t where s is in meters and t in seconds. Determine the total
acceleration at the end of 3 seconds.
aT = 17.71 m/sec2
• 2. A particle is moving along a curved path such that, at a certain
instant when the slope of the path is 0.75, ax = 1.85 m/sec2 and ay =
3.0 m/sec2. Determine the values of an and at at this instant.
at = 3.28 m/sec2, an = 1.29 m/s2
• Compute the radius of curvature of the path of a stone thrown with an
initial velocity of 30.5 m/sec upward at 600 to the horizontal, at the point
where it is 15 m horizontally from its initial position.

• 4. A stone with an initial velocity of 61 m/sec up to the right at a slope of
4 to 3, has the components of acceleration that are constant at ax = - 3.70
m/sec2 and ay = -6.0 m/sec2. Compute the radius of curvature at the start
and at the top of the path.
• At the start, r = 5814.06 m, at the top, r = 7.06 m
