sorting/classifying, inferring, predicting, experimenting,
and communicating.
Observing
• Using the five senses to collect information.
• Using words to describe what is seen , felt ,
heard , smelled and tasted.
Measuring quantities

• Determining dimensions : Length , area , volume , mass , weight , or time

of objects or events by using instruments that measure these properties .
Classifying
• Sorting or ordering objects or ideas into
groups or categories based on their
properties.
Inferring
• Making statements about an
observation that provides a
reasonable explanation.
Predicting
• Guessing what the outcome of an event will be based on observations and
, usually , prior knowledge of similar events.
Hypothesizing

• Proposing an explanation that can be tasted and stating the possible

outcome of an experiment.
Communicating

• Sharing ideas through talking and listening, drawing and
