STILL LIFE STUDIO SET UP

ANKE LE ROUX
MINI SHOOT
HOW CAN YOU SET UP A MINI STUDIO AT HOME FOR WHAT IS A REFLECTOR? WHAT IS IT FOR AND ARE THERE ANY
TAKING PHOTOS OF OBJECTS? ALTERNATVES THAT CAN MAKE USE OF HOME?
To create a mini photo shoot you could include some natural light instead of using big
photo shoot lights, when you are setting up your photo shoot you could try to include A reflector is a board that is set up to reflect light onto subjects to naturally lighten it in the photo,
the natural light by setting it up facing a window. you could a foam board, kitchen foil, white walls or ceilings, mirror, white paper or anything that is
white and seems to reflect when light hits it.
In your mini shoot set up a white reflector behind your object so that the light can
reflect of the back and on to the object to lighten it up. Set the shoot in a ‘L’ shape so
that the light reflects and so that there is a gap for the camera.

WHAT MATERIALS AND PROPS CAN YOU USE?
Some materials that could be used in your shoot is white foam boards to use as
reflectors for your shoot, you could use anything as a prop as long as it can fit in your
shoot layout.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF USING THE PROPS AND

BACKGROUND PICTURE BELOW?

To lighten up the prop and to capture it with a plain background so that the viewer
doesn’t get distracted with the background and focuses on the prop.

HOW DID YOU USE LIGHTING? WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT

TYPES/ REASONS FOR VARIOUS LIGHT SOURCES?
I used lighting with a circular light and used that to get a bright lighting and to also
get a circular reflection off the object, various types of light sources give different
tones, reflections, warmth or coolness and different brightness.
