height Depiction of an “Islamic Gateway”
 218,000 M2 of floor space for office in each of the towers.
 Concert hall.
 A six-storey shopping and entertainment complex to include two department
stores shops, restaurants, cinemas, an art gallery, a specialized library.
 four-storey underground car park for 5,400 cars.
 The towers evoke traditional reasons of Islamic art, celebrating the Muslim
heritage of Malaysia.
PLAN:
the core :-
▪ 23 x 23m and occupies approximately 23% of the floor space.
▪ The core contains lifts, stair cases, MEP shafts and toilets.
▪ Cesar pelli considered it to be a very good ratio for tall
buildings.
▪ WTC 15%of the floor area as core.

STRUCTURE :
 The towers rest on a slab of concrete, which in turn is placed on a
"forest" of underground pillars of concrete and steel.
 Each tower is composed of 16 cylindrical columns of reinforced
concrete, each of which occupies a corner of the star. With a
diameter of 2.4 meters.
 These towers have 88 floors of reinforced concrete and a facade
made of steel and glass.
SURIA KLCC:
 Suria KLCC is a 140,000 m2 (1,500,000 sq ft) upmarket retail center at
the feet of the Petronas Towers. It features mostly foreign luxury goods
and high-street labels. Its attractions include an art gallery, a
philharmonic theatre, an underwater aquarium and also a Science
center. Suria KLCC is one of the largest shopping malls in Malaysia.

KLCC PARK:
 Spanning 17 acres (6.9 ha) below the building is the KLCC Park with
jogging and walking paths, a fountain with incorporated light show,
wading pools, and a children's playground.
SKY BRIDGE:
 The towers feature a double decker skybridge connecting the two towers on the
41st and 42nd floors, which is the highest 2-story bridge in the world. The bridge
is 170 m (558 ft) above the ground and 58 m (190 ft) long, weighing 750 tons.
 The same floor is also known as the podium, since visitors going to higher levels
have to change elevators here.
 The skybridge also acts as a safety device, so that in the event of a fire or other
emergency in one tower, tenants can evacuate by crossing the skybridge to the
other tower.
 There is a two hinged arch that supports the skybridge with arch legs, each 51
metres (167 ft) long, that are bolted to level 29 of each of the towers. After being
constructed on the ground, the skybridge was lifted into place on the towers over a
period of three days in July 1995 but instead of being directly connected to the
towers, the skybridge can shift or slide in and out of them to counterbalance any
effect from the wind.
VERTICAL CIRCULATION:
The main bank of Otis Lifts is located in the centre of each tower. All main lifts are double-
decker with the lower deck of the lift taking passengers to even-numbered floors and upper
deck to odd-numbered floors. To reach an odd-numbered floor from ground level,
passengers must take an escalator to the upper deck of the lift.

DOUBLE ELEVATOR:
The floor area was too small to accommodate too many space for shafts , so double
elevators were employed.
Passengers that want to go EXPRESS ELEVATOR:
•Odd level stay at lobby This goes half way up, called the sky lobby
•Even level climb one level up using
escalators Each shaft had 2 double
elevators, 56 in total
BANK OF USA:
 The Bank of America Corporate Center is an
871 ft(265 m) skyscraperin Uptown Charlotte, North
Carolina.
 When completed in 1992, it became and still is the
tallest building in North Carolina.

 on a clear day the tower is visible to the naked eye from

35 miles (56 km) away.
 The mat foundation consists of a thick slab containing
3,500 cubic yards (2,700 m3) of concrete and 150 tons of
reinforcing steel at the center of the tower.
 The foundation reaches 38 feet (12 m) below Tryon Street
at its deepest point with the tower being supported by 36
concrete and steel piers.
 These piers are able to withstand the 150,000 pounds of
pressure per square foot placed upon them by the 300
million pound structure
