What Is Writing Readiness ?

The fundamental skills student need to develop before they are


able to write.

These skills contribute to a student ability to hold and use a


pencil, and the ability to draw, write, copy, and colour.

A major component of pre-writing skills are the pre-writing


shapes.
Why Are Writing Readiness Skills Important?

It is an essential for a student to be able to develop the ability


to hold and move a pencil fluently and effectively .

Therefore produce legible writing.


EARLY
WRITING
1. General Guidelines

 The early stages of a writing programme will be uterlized for pre-


communicative activities through students to learn the mechanics and
conventions. It is necesssary for effective communicative writing.

 This include hand writing, spelling, punctuation and paragraphing.

The mechanics of writing are the least intersting part of writing.


Early Writing Instruction

• Provide meaningful context for learning the mechanics of


writing.

• Use students own writing composition for giving them insight


into writing.

• Constantly keep the benefits of learning to write before them.

• Make it a practice to read to your students a variety of things.

• Develop your students natural curiosity and thinking skills

• Concentrate on a few difficulties faced by your student.

• Provide sufficient guidance to ensure pupils do not make errors.

• Although the practice is on a single element, it must evoke the


feeling that something has been written.

• There must be a sense of purpose in the practice.


 Teacher must ensure that there is provision for the elements of
good writing:

1. Formation

3. Further Copying Activities

• To help students master the mechanics of writing, a variety of


copying activities may be used at the early stages.

• They can be in the form of puzzles, games, or other cognitively


challenging tasks.

• Copying activities interesting and meaningful.

they have learnt and fill
in the puzzle.
