• The contemporary history of the world's
favourite game spans more than 100 years. It
all began in 1863 in England, when rugby
football and association football branched off
on their different courses and the Football
Association in England was formed - becoming
the sport's first governing body.
 The first match
• The first international football match was
played between Scotland and England
selections on November 30, 1872 in Partick,
Scotland. The match ended tied 0-0 and was
observed by 4000 people.
 The oldest stadium of the world
• The oldest stadium in the world-according to
the data that has been compiled-belongs,
logically, to the one that today is considered
the first professional football team, the
Sheffield football Club. Bramall Lane is the
name he received in 1846 this field of the
town of Sheffield, in South Yorkshire, in the
north of England.
