Supply chain management manages all movement and storage of raw


materials, work-in-process inventory, and finished goods from point-of
origin to point-of-consumption.

Supply chain Management encompasses the planning and management of


all activities involved in sourcing and procurement, conversion, and all
logistics management activities in order to add value to the final product in
the most streamlined and cost effective way possible.

Supply Chain Management includes software tools and modules which


are used to execute supply chain transactions, manage supplier
relationships and control associated business processes.

• The first definition explains how supply chain management gets applied
in manufacturing sector i.e. from input of raw material to the output of
finished goods.
• The second definition explains supply chain management from
managers’ perspective starting from sourcing of raw material from the
supplier to the delivery of finished goods to the end consumer including
all the activities of logistics.
• The last definition explains the role of IT in Supply chain Management. It
says about the exchange of information and resources across the levels
