Guidance is:
1. Helping individuals make wise choices.
2. Encouraging growth, development and
achievement.
 Activities such as planning,
organizing and exploring to aid
student development.
 Services such as counselling and
communicating with persons
involved in the student’s life to
better understand the student.
Your Guidance Officer is there to:
o Listen to you in times of difficulty
o Advocate on your behalf
o Assist you with career planning and
decision-making
o Help you understand yourself and
the world in which you live.
Guidance focuses on three(3) main
areas:
 Academic Development
 Career Development
 Personal/Social Development
 Involves: Study skills, Timetabling, Subject
choices etc.
 Student preparation for the world of
work.
 Relationships
Friends/Family
