In an everyday life, 10-16% of the fuel of the
vehicle to overcome the friction and air drag.
A conventional shock absorber dampens the
suspension movement to provide less jerk and
keep tire firmly gripped with the road.
It does so by converting kinetic energy into heat
energy which then is absorbed by oil.
 The Power-Generating Shock Absorber (PGSA)
converts this kinetic energy into electricity
instead of heat through a Linear Motion
Electromagnetic System (LMES).
 It consist of magnet, spring and an electric
energy accumulator.
 The linear motion electromagnetic system uses
a dense permanent magnet stack embedded in
the main piston, a switchable series of stator
coil windings , a rectifier , and an electronic
control system to manage the varying electrical
output and dampening load.
 The bottom shaft of the PGSA mounts to the
moving suspension member and forces the
magnet stack to reciprocate within the annular
array of stator windings, producing alternating
current electricity. That electricity is then
converted into direct current through a full-
wave rectifier and stored in the vehicle’s
batteries.
 This technology can be applied to an type of
vehicle that employs movable suspension
technology and uses electricity in some form as its
fuel.
 It bests works on electric vehicles so companies
decide it to use it for military actions.
 It is also sensible that having on board power
generation could be a real advantage in military
situations where troops are moving in remote
areas without readily available fuel, conserving
fuel during those scenario during combat could be
a life saving chance.
 For non-military actions we can think its heavy
use on trucking buisness.while they typically
run trucks over roadways for over miles even
small, constant movement can generate fair
amount of electricity.
 A larger magnetic field will be necessary if
more power need to be generated.
 Conversion of energy produced by vehicle
shock absorber movements into electrical
energy , allows a significant fuel saving.
 It is possible to save 1.5% to 6% of fuel
depending on the vehicle and driving
conditions.
 Researchers says that on a smooth highway it
can save approx. 2% of the fuel and on a
bumpy road upto 10% can be expected.
