CHRISTIAN LIFE IS A COMMITTED LIFE

Meaning of Commitment
Commitment is an act of dedicating
one’s life freely to a person or a cause.
Freely means . . .
. . . without any factor behinds its
decision such as fear, deceit, or force.
Motivation is central to commitment.
Levels or Basis of Motivation
Attraction
is a quality or feature of something or
someone that evokes interest, liking or desire.
Trust
is a firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability
or strength of someone or something.
Love
The highest level of motivation which
moves one to dedicate his life to someone
or to a particular cause because he finds
fulfillment and meaning to his actions
and life in general.
This kind of love is learned only in Jesus.
(1 John 3:16)
Hindrance to Commitment
Immaturity
is defined as lack of expected type of
responsible behavior for your age.
World
World here refers to the values and
material things around us that pre- occupies
us. (Jn. 15:19)
Self
Self here refers to the innate tendency
of every human being to seek his own
welfare, satisfaction, comfort, advantage,
pleasure, honor, glory, power and etc.
This strong tendency of the fallen man
is called, Self-centeredness, Self-seeking,
Selfishness, etc.
The Devil
is the one mentioned in Eph. 6:12, the
principalities, with the powers, with the
world rulers of this present darkness, with
the evil spirits in the heavens.
The Devil has a name
Beelzebul (Beel or Baal meaning lord)
